Boone and I attended the Phillip Lee Phillips Annual Conference and were not disappointed. The Phillip's Society is the support group for the Geography and Map Division of the Library of Congress and have begun annual conferences in May. Next year they will address maps of the Civil War and have field trips to the battlefields with original maps in hand!

The speakers were outstanding and the special treat was to have the priceless Portolan Charts laid out for us on Saturday to see up close in the library. For an review in the Washington Post, Library of Congress holds conference on origins of portolan charts
